Maui’s musical treasure\, Uncle Benny Uyetake\, re-imagines Kanikapila evenings in Wailea with storytelling\, and world-class music. Through the Aloha Music Series\, Uncle Benny will introduce you to the new sounds from the islands and transport you to old Hawaiʻi as he hosts upcoming artists and Hawaiʻi’s legends. You never know who is gonna show up and kanikapila!\nAbout the Artists\n– BENNY UYETAKE –\nBenny has played with some of the world’s finest musicians on Maui and while touring. Over the years Benny has shared the stage with some of Hawaiʻi’s greatest trailblazers like Uncle Willie K and Barry Flanagan of HAPA\, as well as the world’s most talented jazz players Les McCann\, Russel Malone\, and Donald Harrison. His versatility comes from his years of musical study in different genres with mentors in classical\, jazz\, Hawaiian\, Blues\, and rock.\n– JIMMY DILLON –\nJimmy Dillon is a true luminary in the world of music—With an illustrious career spanning over five decades\, Jimmy has carved a distinctive niche for himself in the industry\, captivating audiences worldwide with his soulful vocals\, heartfelt lyrics\, and exceptional guitar skills. Jimmy’s career has included touring the world with Bruce Springsteen’s saxophonist Clarence Clemons’ The Red Bank Rockers\, opening for the Beach Boys\, recording with Carlos Santana\, and playing before President Bill Clinton onstage with The Band.\nJimmy’s musical journey began at a very early age. He immersed himself in the rich tapestry of blues\, rock\, and folk\, drawing inspiration from the likes of Bob Dylan\, Eric Clapton\, and Neil Young. Fueled by this musical melting pot\, Jimmy embarked on a remarkable path that led him to share stages with legends such as Carlos Santana\, B.B. Jay tours and plays with his son Andrew who is one of Hawaiiʻs top ukulele players. His innovative style and electrifying performances have significantly enriched the local music scene\, drawing in diverse audiences and inspiring fellow musicians. Tavana’s unique approach has helped to elevate the profile of island-inspired Rock and Blues\, making it a prominent genre in Hawaii.
